The British rock gentleman was welcomed by a full Arena...

It was his third visit and his third success – Sting performed again tonight in front of a full Arena in Pula, and it has been 20 years since his first visit and 17 years since his second equally successful appearance under the open sky of Pula. Two decades later, Gordon Sumner is still in great shape, and his fans love him, as evidenced by the fact that they came to Pula from 36 countries such as Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Hungary and Switzerland.

The reason for his visit is known – the promotion of the album "57th & 9th", but he opened the concert with the hit of his former band Police, "Synchronicity 2" from 1983. As always, he composed his repertoire from the hits of the band Police, his older well-known songs and new songs that he recorded on the current album, and there were also some interesting covers. It was interesting to compare this concert to the previous two and see how much Sting remained true to himself, and he did, because he still combines love lyrics with emphasized political and ecological messages.

This now old rocker, who on his first solo album from 1985 was concerned about the future of the world and children in the West and the East at the height of the Cold War, took his son Joe Sumner on tour, who performed as a guest last night, first as an opening act and then joining his famous father on stage. The honour of opening the evening and the opportunity to take the stage of the Pula Amphitheatre for the second time in a year went to the band Buđenje, who warmed up the audience at this venue last summer for the Steam Roller concert.

Sting is the main man here, and the audience in Pula enthusiastically welcomed him, and he has a 40-year career behind him and is still holding up very well. After the European part of the tour, Sting will move on to Central and South America and Asia, and then return to Europe for scheduled performances at selected summer festivals. Given the great success and attendance of this world tour and thanks to excellent reviews, Sting's management decided to add three more dates in early September in North America.

In Pula, Sting was also presented with the special Porin Special Merit Award, an award given to prominent foreign artists for special achievements in certain musical fields. Before Sting, this award was also received by Pink Floyd founder Roger Waters, author, producer and frontman of Bijelo Dugme Goran Bregović, blues guitarist Johnny Winter, former Sex Pistols singer John Lyndon, and jazz stars – French violinist Jean-Luc Ponty, Arturo Sandoval, Ron Carter and Lee Konitz.
