Sting at Sporting Monte-Carlo: the match was almost perfect...
The Salle des Etoiles was packed on Friday evening, with over 800 people attending Sting's concert.
It was one of the most promising dates of the summer. The immense and magnificent singer gave a one-hour concert in the Salle des Etoiles, performing several of his famous hits.
Monaco knows how to attract stars and arrange meetings with the greatest artists. Sting obviously falls into this category. The former frontman of The Police knows the Rock well. On September 8th, he performed at a private party at the Yacht Club, leaving a lasting impression: an even more beautiful voice, an exceptional physique, and an exceptional appearance.
So, on Friday evening, no one will be surprised to learn that the Salle des Étoiles at the Sporting d'été was packed for the singer-songwriter's concert. A unique date, in a legendary venue, and a concert punctuated by some very famous songs.
Even before beginning his set, Sting had the exquisite grace to evoke his Parisian years, the Comédie-Française, Edmond Rostand, Cyrano de Bergerac, and the love of his life: Roxane. It was a fitting start on an eminently romantic note. But there were, it seemed, few fans of 19th-century literature in the audience.
Perfectly in keeping with the artistic direction of the Sporting Summer Festival, the selection of songs, gathered around the album Songs, which revisits forty years of untarnished success, was undoubtedly captivating. Some masterful pieces: Message in the Bottle, Englishman in New York, Shape in My Heart, Desert Rose…
Everything was in place for another memorable evening. Except perhaps that the singer expected more from the audience. The day before, he had been at the Colmar Wine Fair in front of 10,000 spectators. Another venue, another atmosphere. The audience in the Haut-Rhin town had the chance to hear two global hits: "Russians" and "Fragile" performed as a second encore. The Monaco crowd didn't get the same treatment. Whose fault was that? Too bad...
